About the Live Stream Collection

The Live Stream Collection is a collection of 8 underwater cameras worldwide. These underwater cameras are located in Honduras, French Polynesia, the Caribbean Netherlands, Maldives, Hawai'i, Miami, and the US East Coast. The collection is a mix of live streams, highlights, and daily highlights. All the underwater video feeds are owned and operated by the organizations mentioned below the video feeds.

All of the organizations hosting their live streams, highlights, or daily highlights on our Live Stream Collection also use Aqualink to monitor the reefs where these underwater cameras are located. Monitoring your reef with Aqualink is free, and all the data is publicly available. You can get your own dashboards at https://aqualink.org/register, and you'll automatically get temperature, wind, and wave data from NOAA satellites. You can also upload surveys and connect external sensors to your dashboard.

These live streams, highlights, and daily highlights are locations that include coral reefs, coral restoration sites, and an off-shore lighthouse tower.

How the reefs change over time

Coral reefs are very sensitive to temperature increases. An increase of just 1℃ can start a bleaching process, eventually killing the coral unless the temperature returns to normal. Other factors, such as water quality, also affect the condition of the corals and fish. Coral reefs are, therefore, very sensitive to the climate changes that our planet is experiencing. We have seen the effects live in the Live Stream Collection by following the live streams available here. Harbour Village House Reef and Coral City Camera on this page experienced coral bleaching in 2023, and we could see the bleaching event live here. The terrible but fascinating event is a reminder for all of us to help take care of these vulnerable ecosystems. View the Florida Heatwave Tracking page to see the bleaching event that Coral City Camera experienced in 2023.
